BABY KITS for
Church World Service
Church World Service Baby Kits Plea - Give a Gift that Matters.

Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

At Green Lake the American Baptist Women were told by Lisa Rothenberger of the ABCUSA WORLD RELIEF OFFICE of an urgent need for BABY KITS for Church World Service. This need has been forwarded to me as your missions and service coordinator for Wisconsin by Janet Hogan, our National Mission and Service Coordinator. You may contact her at bradwinjanet@comcast.net with your questions or concerns.

Church World Service depends on groups like us to help them provide health kits, baby kits, and cleaning kits in times of need, such as the war in Lebanon. They currently do not have enough BABY KITS to supply the requests they are receiving!

Daniel and Sarah Chetti - American Baptist Missionaries in LebanonSince we have missionaries working in Lebanon in the midst of war and destruction, let us not only be praying for the Daniel and Sarah Chetti's safety, but also doing our part to supply a need that I am sure is touching the refugees that now live at the school compound.

Either a CASH donation of $39.00 per kit, or the kits with a $2.00 processing fee would be greatly appreciated and should be sent to CHURCH WORLD SERVICE, not to ABCUSA.

You may get more information from www.churchworldservice.org, but I am including the instructions they sent out to help you get started.

BABY KIT to include

  • Six cloth diapers (available at Target or K-Mart, possibly Wal-Mart)
  • Two shirts
  • Two washcloths
  • Two gowns or sleepers
  • Two diaper pins
  • One sweater or sweatshirt
  • Two receiving blankets (one can be a knitted blanket, but remember laundry needs)

Wrap items inside one of the receiving blankets and secure with diaper pins.

Pack "Gift of the Heart" kits in boxes with only one type of kit per box.

Complete the Kit Coupon* available at their site and enclose a copy in each box before sealing.

Indicate the type of kit CLEARLY on the outside of the box

Secure the boxes with packing tape

Ship prepared kits to:

Church World Service
Brethren Service Center Annex
601 Main Street
P.O. Box 188
New Windsor, MD 21776-0188

Please include BOTH the box and street address on the boxes

May God guide our response to this great need, remembering that as we do it unto one of the least of these our brothers and sisters, we do it unto Christ.

In God's service.

Mary Jeffries,
Wisconsin ABWomen's Mission and Service Coordinator
