50 year ago three churches had an incredible, honorable goal: unite three different mainline denomination congregations.  The future, they theorized, depended not on them surviving separately, but thriving together..  Difficult but unifying  decisions were made.  Trust superseded fears..  Hope marched along with each step.  Much has happened in 50 years.  Much has happened to challenge the faithful and this church has been a steady, loving presence.  This church has maintained its covenant of ministry to each other, to the community and the world.

When the Federated Church was organized in 1948, it's vision statement "Christ is our anchor" was the inspiration for our emblem.  It was created in the 60's by Rev. Marcus Johnson, pastor.

In the 50th year of our Federated church history, with "Christ's Vision-Our Mission' as our theme, the Federated Church is growing in service to God and the community by expending the church building. On October 19, 1997 at an all congregational meeting we unanimously approved the church renovation.  The Narthex was enlarged to enhance fellowship, and two handicapped accessible restrooms on the mail floor were added.  An elevator was installed to facilitate the needs of all who share in worship.  A large room added downstairs under the new Narthex provides space for an additional classroom and Youth Fellowship.  The church offices and music room were expanded.

The Federated church brings to the present a half century of history and service, preceded by 150 years of ministry by the Methodist and Congregational churches. The past is prologue to the future.  What will be its ministry during the next fifty years?  The answer is in our hands.
