ABC/WI BY THE NUMBERS
Each year congregations are
asked to complete an annual report form to help us track who
we are "by the numbers". This year with some extra
effort on the part of the region office we managed to get at
least partial reports from over 90% of our congregations (the
highest percentage of any region in the nation-thank you!).
What do the numbers tell us
about who we were in 2005? (2006 data will be collected early
this year.) The numbers reported were:
Total Membership: 13,406
Total Average Worship Att: 6,803
Total Sunday School Ave. Att 2,295
Total Baptisms: 519
Total New Members: 1,166
Members who died: 189
Total Members Lost: 566
Total Church Income:$7,879,462.00
Total American Baptist Mission Support:
$417,055.00
Total Other Mission Support:
$219,740.00
There are other definitions
of "who we are" that can be found in the data
.for
instance did you know?
- 55% of American Baptists in Wisconsin are
in predominately African-American
congregations. (Nationwide it is 47%.)
- 59% of Sunday School attendance is in predominately
African-American congregations.
- 87% of the Baptisms were in predominately
African-American congregations.
- 91% of American Baptist Mission Giving
was from predominately Euro-American congregations.
(NOTE: Most of our predominately
African-American congregations financially support the National
Baptist Convention with which they are also affiliated.)
May we learn from one another
as we seek to witness to the loving presence of Jesus Christ
in our congregations and communities. These are days of challenge
and these are days of opportunity. Let us resolve to move forward
in faithfulness.

Where
will your next pastor come from? Do you have persons in your
congregation who have gifts for ministry? Are you inviting and
challenging them to consider full-time Christian service?
Remember
..
We now have a seminary extension available right here in the
Milwaukee area where they can seek some theological education.
This may be to explore their call or to follow their call.
We are ready to dialogue
with potential students (who have a bachelor's degree) about
the possibilities.
