In This Issue:
A SEASON OF PRAYER
TO BEGIN A NEW YEAR
Every day, every month, every
hour is best begun with prayer - that unceasing awareness of
God's presence and guidance. Knowing that God is with us and
is extending his grace and love to us even when we are not "tuned
in" to it sustains us even in those times.
As we enter 2007, a new year, let us intentionally
pray with anticipation for what God will do in our midst. Here
are some things on my prayer list for the new year:
- I pray for families affected by war and
violence, both around the world and right here in Wisconsin.
May healing and wholeness come, may God help us find peace
to live with one another in our neighborhoods and in the world
neighborhood.
- I pray for those persons who will come
to know Christ in 2007 through the outreach of our congregations,
large and small. May our programs of evangelism, outreach
and worship touch people for Jesus Christ.
- I pray for each congregations seeking pastoral
leadership. Strengthen the interim pastors, lay leaders and
pulpit search committees as they move through these days.
- I pray for the ABCUSA, the biennial/centennial
to take place in Washington, DC. May God guide as we reform
our ABC family to be a more effective tool for mission and
ministry.
- I pray for the ministry of Camp Tamarack
under the new leadership of Jane Mathison.
- I pray for the Missional Church Initiative
under the leadership of Sam Brink.
- I pray for the Milwaukee Extension Centre
of Central Baptist Theological Seminary under the leadership
of Timothy Ashley, Adam Bond and Maxine Ashley
- I pray for Housing Ministries of American
Baptists of Wisconsin under the leadership of Carmen Porco.
- I pray for Project Focal Point and the
Milwaukee Christian Center.
- I pray for the work of American Baptist
Women's Ministries, American Baptist Men and the Ministers
Council.
- I pray for you and your family. May you
find in 2007 a closer walk with one another and with our loving
God.
Please join me in pray as we begin the new
year and note the General
Secretary's Prayer Net on the region Website.
