CAMP TAMARACK: A PLACE APART

I am a firm believer in the need to find "a place apart" away from the distractions of everyday life where time can be taken to hear the "still small voice" of God.

More and more families are finding Camp Tamarack as a special place for their reunions. With the improved facilities and reasonable rates it means a family can gather in the comfort of a place dedicated to Christ. Activities are available within a short commute such as golf and a water park if those amenities are desired.

There is even a time for Pastors R & R (no cost for pastors) , July 29-31. Or you can reserve the Hyde Unit (motel room with private bath) in Tamarack Lodge that is available year around. This can be a great place to get away and do that Bible study, reading, sermon planning and spiritual reflection.

Now is a great time to plan a leaders retreat or couples retreat this fall or winter. Perhaps you want to hold an all-church gathering. Maybe it's a youth leadership retreat. The possibilities are endless.

Our summer camping season is in full swing. The registration numbers are very good for which we are grateful. Please pray for the children, youth and adults who are finding "a place apart" at Camp Tamarack this summer.

Pray for Jane Mathison in her first season as Director of Camping Ministry, Mark and Deb Lembke as they continue to serve and for the 2007 summer staff. Pray for the volunteer leaders who are giving so generously of their time. Remember the Commission on Camping as they seek to strengthen this ministry.

And let us all reflect on how we might use Camp Tamarack as a place apart in the months ahead.
