Fellowship of American Baptist Musicians

Issue 1

Mary SchecherEphesians 4:11-12 Christ chose some of us to be apostles, prophets, missionaries, pastors and teachers so that his people would learn to serve
and his body would grow strong.

After returning from the FABM musicians conference at Green Lake I feel renewed and re-energized in my music ministry. Those of us who are involved in a music program have to do a little bit of everything in the list in Ephesians. More than anything, our job is to serve. I am making a renewed commitment to serving my congregation, pastor and myself with the best
music I can find. Whether you direct, play, sing or ring in the choir or are a part of the congregation, you can also serve by giving your best to your congregation in your singing, ringing and listening.

Book alert - "Music and the Mind" by Anthony Storr - Great! Great! Great! I think you get the picture. Storr explores the power of music and why it is such an important part of our culture.

I am attaching a short service of commitment that you can use at a choir rehearsal or even in your worship service.

More news on the next train.
