THANK YOU WISCONSIN BAPTISTS

Once again Wisconsin Baptists have been faithful in financially supporting the cooperative ministries and missions of the wider American Baptist family. In 2006 over $381,000.00 was given to ABC mission causes. We especially recognize American Baptist Women's Ministries for an increase in Love Gift over 2005. The World Mission Offering and Targeted Giving also increased over 2005. There was a 2.3% decrease in United Missions-the area of giving that touches all mission. There were decreases in the America for Christ and Retired Ministers and Missionaries offerings as well. Please continue to pray that the cooperative work supported by our mission giving will introduce more and more people to the saving grace of Jesus Christ.

Does Your Congregation Have A Sabbatical Leave Policy?

More and more congregations are developing sabbatical leave policies for pastors who have served over a number of years-often a sabbatical leave is available every 6 or 7 years. Sabbaticals are not vacations but rather times of rest and renewal for pastoral leaders. Generally there is an assessment of congregational and pastoral needs along with the development of 2-3 goals for the extended time away from the daily routines of the pastoral office. There are a variety of funding sources to help with a variety of expenses such as interim pastoral coverage, sabbatical expenses, etc. For more information on sabbaticals visit www.ministerscouncil.com. You will find a sabbatical is an investment in your congregation's future as well as in the effectiveness of your pastor. This benefit can be an attractive addition to your pastoral package.
