Tangible Word Ministries-A New Church Plant

This ministry was begun by Roxanne Cardenas and has been serving for several years. On December 18, 2007, they became an ABC related new church plant dually aligned with Churches of God in Christ (COGIC). COGIC, under the leadership of Bishop Sedgwick Daniels, has become a member of the Interfaith Conference of Greater Milwaukee and the Wisconsin Council of Churches in recent years. Tangible Word Ministries is planning their inaugural worship service on March 9th. For further information about this ministry, consult their website www.tangibleword.org.

Our Sympathy

To Jane Mathison, ABC/Wisconsin Director of Camping Ministries and Pastor of Honey Creek-Community, on the death of her Mother who passed away early on December 31, 2007.

To the family of Allan Knight, former volunteer staff associate minister, who passed away on November 30th in Minnesota at the age of 95. For twelve years prior to his retirement, he served as Executive Minister of ABC/Nebraska. His wife, Pearl, preceded him in death in 2003.

To Charles Graves on the death of his Mother-in-Law in early December.

Congratulations

To Ronda and Adam Bond on the birth of their daughter, Alana Lynette, born January 9th. Alana joins big sister Raychel at home. Adam is a staff associate minister with ABC/WI.

News About Churches and People

Kathy McElmurry, Madison-First, recently returned from a two-year mission in Madagascar.

Grace Morgan, Wauwatosa-Underwood, received the Frank Zeidler Award from the Interfaith Conference of Greater Milwaukee. The award recognizes lifelong commitment to community service.

Virginia Henderson, Madison-First, received the Ruth Gordon Service Award from the Madison Area Service Clubs Council in recognition of her extensive efforts in working with youth.

Carmen Porco, Housing Ministries of AB in Wisconsin, had an article published in "The Christian Citizen" Volume 4, 2007 entitled "Transforming Poverty by Reconsidering Our Citizenship".

Robert Newberry, Antigo-First, has authored "Remember-ing Summer Church Camps: From Green Lake to Camp Tamarack and Baptist Youth Fellowship Congresses and Baptist Youth Fellowship 1956-59, a Personal History". This is especially timely with the 50th Anniversary of Camp Tamarack being celebrated in 2008.

Eau Claire-First hired Nicole Wolf as a part-time Youth Worker. Nicole, a member of First-La Crosse, is a student at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and will be working with the youth and children of the church to strengthen and develop ministry in these areas.
