Nominating Committee Seeks Your Recommendations

The region nominating committee is charged with the responsibility of bringing a slate of nominees to the October annual meeting to serve in a variety of roles in the region. The committee seeks to have persons represent Baptists from all churches in all parts of the state. You can help by suggesting persons who might use their gifts in regional positions. The following positions are to be elected at the 2007 region annual meeting: Vice President (layman, 1 year term), ABCUSA General Board representative (4 year term), Region Board (2-3 year terms), and two members each for 3-year terms on the five commissions-Camping, Finance, Congregational Ministries, Outreach and Ministry. Your recommendations may be e-mailed to Arlo.Reichter@abcofwi.org or mailed to the region office to the attention of the Nominating Committee.

CROP Celebrates 60 Years in 2007

Many ABC congregations have participated in CROP walks through the years. CROP is a part of Church World Service that provides many forms of assistance in seeking to overcome poverty and to respond to disasters worldwide. The new acronym for CROP is Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty. In 2006 the seventy-six CROP events in Wisconsin raised more than $673,000. CROP returns 25% of the money raised to local food pantries with the balance being used nationally and internationally for agencies that promote local self-reliance through tools, seeds, water and training in sustainable farming techniques. Watch for information regarding the 2007 CROP Walk in your area this fall.
