News About Churches and People

Tomah-Open Door held a Youth Sunday in which 25 youth provided leadership. Mark Pittman is pastor.

Milwaukee-Progressive hosted the Winter Convocation of the Milwaukee Centre of Central Baptist Theological Seminary. Rolen Womack, host pastor, and Eleanor Cardenas, past region president provided leadership at the convocation.

The A.C.T.S. association met at Waukesha-First in February to share how congregations are serving their communities and beyond.

The Milwaukee Association of Baptist Churches met at Community of Greater Milwaukee in February to discuss their involvement with the YWCA's transitional housing project.

Rolen Womack, Adam Bond (Progressive) and John R. Walton, Jr. (Calvary) attended the Samuel DeWitt Proctor Pastor's Conference in New Orleans in February.

Nicole Wolf, La Crosse-First and Nikki Clinger, Madison-First will be the region's youth delegates at the ABCUSA Biennial this summer.

Omar Almonte who served as Hispanic Area Minister for Greater Chicago and Wisconsin has resigned to accept a position in New York City

Judy Sutterlin, ABC Missionary to China, is pictured in the current issues of International Ministries Update. Judy has a Missionary Partnership Team in Wisconsin.

Elected as the executive committee of American Baptist Men of Wisconsin at the winter retreat were Karl Byleen, West Allis-First; Gary Schrader, Honey Creek-Community; Lafayette McKinney, Milwaukee-Calvary; Jim Helmer, Fond du Lac-First; Chris Ashwood, Hudson-First.

The current quarter of Adult "Journeys" curriculum published by Judson press was written by Adam Bond, ABC/WI staff and Milwaukee-Progressive. He also authored an article in the current issue of "The American Baptist Quarterly" a journal of American Baptist history.

Jackie Colbert, Madison-Mt. Zion and Minister of Music at Madison-First is a new student in the Central Seminary/Milwaukee Centre.
