Hurricane Response Continues

American Baptists respond to Hurricane Katrina

Numerous congregations have responded by sending financial support and work groups to the Gulf region to help in the restoration following the 2005 hurricanes. Max Ramsey, Immanuel-Brookfield, was among the first to respond as he had immediate and direct contact with a seminary classmate serving a Presbyterian congregation in Gautier, MS. Various groups from several regions and congregations have gone and worked. Recently ABC World Relief Office through One Great Hour of Sharing Funds granted $45,000 for Project Gautier. This will facilitate work with the local American Baptist relief coordinator to adopt families who have "fallen through the cracks" with other agencies.
