In This Month's Issue:
Wisconsin Baptists Continue
to Respond
While many regions have been caught in a
downward spiral in mission giving, Wisconsin Baptists continue
to "stay the course" with generous support of the
mission beyond their local churches. Through the first six-months
of 2006 the giving to United Mission (the heart of ABC mission
support) was up from 2005 (which had been an increase over
2004). Included in this was an increase in American Baptist
Women's Ministries giving to Love Gift. The America for Christ
offering was down compared to one year ago. Thank you Wisconsin
Baptists for supporting the mission beyond your doorstep.

The
AB Foundation
20 Years Old & Counting

In 1985 American Baptists formed a foundation to aid persons
in planned giving-annuities, bequests and out-right gifts.
ABC of Wisconsin has been a participant in the foundation
from the beginning. The region pays a fee to enable the foundation
staff to provide consultative services to congregations and
individuals at no charge. Do you know who has benefited the
most from the foundation efforts? LOCAL CHURCHES through estate
plans. Contact Paul Weers at 877-688-9024 to schedule a meeting
at your church or to meet with an interested church member.
In addition, while local churches have benefited the most,
you can remember ABC of Wisconsin, Camp Tamarack, National
Ministries, Office of the General Secretary, International
Ministries, and colleges/seminaries in your plans. The foundation
does not have to "handle" your estate, they will
provide information and you can make your plans with your
attorney.

News About
Churches and People
Calvary-Milwaukee had their kitchen
selected by the TV series Divine Restoration for
a makeover. This series features a different African-American
congregation in North America whose facility needs some TLC.
Calvary's kitchen was one of three projects selected in the
Milwaukee area. The renovation of the kitchen will aid the
congregation in dealing with the food security needs of the
community as they serve regular community dinners. The work
was completed in mid-July.
Examining
the Gospels and Discovering Our Mission by Roxanne
Cardenas was released in May.
Leah Lonsbury has been called as Minister
of Discipleship at First-Madison.
