OGHS Responds to State Emergencies

One Great Hour of Sharing - Click Here to Learn MoreWhen the roof of the Milwaukee Christian Center developed a serious leak action had to be taken immediately to continue the vital ministries housed there Loans were secured from the Roundy Loan Fund of ABC/Wisconsin and the American Baptist Extension Corporation. In addition, a grant of $8000 was provided from the One Great Hour of Sharing. When a devastating apartment fire struck Racine numerous families from ABC-related St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church were displaced. One Great Hour of Sharing provided financial assistance in the amount of $5000. Your gifts to One Great Hour of Sharing helps at home and around the world.

News About Churches and People

Rolen Womack, Milwaukee-Progressive and Jamie Washam, Wauwatosa-Underwood, were the featured preachers at "Fair and Faithful" sponsored by Voices and Values for a Fair Wisconsin held in August.

Mel Brinkley, a United Methodist pastor, has been named campus ministry coordinator at Crossroads United Campus Ministries in La Crosse. Marjorie Erickson retired from this position earlier this year.

Walworth-Friendship after three years as a new church plant voted to close as of September 30th.

Annette Madison, Milwaukee-Calvary, is assisting with the Central Seminary-Milwaukee course on "Formation for Christian Ministry." The course is being taught by Richard Olson, professor at Central and former pastor of Racine-First. Twelve students are registered for the course.

Juan Diego has been named pastor of the Congregacion Hispana at Waukesha-First.

Charlene Cobb, Darien-Community and a seminarian in the Milwaukee Center of Central Baptist Theological Seminary, was recently elected National Chaplain of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Demetrius Williams, Milwaukee-Community of Greater Milwaukee, Timothy Ashley, La Crosse-First and Arlo Reichter attended the Fall Convocation at Central Baptist Theological Seminary on the new campus in Shawnee, KS.

Mark Pittman has been called as pastor of Tomah-Open Door.
