Greetings From Our New Executive Minister

Dear new friends and colleagues,

I am so delighted to be here in Wisconsin! We have settled into our home that we are renting in Brookfield, registered my son for school, obtained driver’s licenses and registered to vote. There are so many details to take care of when moving to a new place!

I will be in the office starting on March 1st, and available to meet via Zoom or in-person. My email is mindi.wm@abcofwi.org, and I look forward to hearing from you. I am scheduling my Sundays to visit churches and would be glad to visit. If you would like to have me preach, I am also glad to do that. Please note that any honorariums should go to the region, and they are not required. Generally, I take Fridays as my day off. However, that can change for events or necessary meetings.

Currently, my heart and prayers are with the people of Ukraine as they are under attack by Russian forces. The American Baptist Churches have released $15,000 in emergency relief from One Great Hour of Sharing to the European Baptist Federation to provide humanitarian aid for Ukranian Baptists. You can read more here and donate through One Great Hour of Sharing to help those suffering in Ukraine.

Rev. Dr. Jeff Woods, our General Secretary of the American Baptist Churches, has written a Call to Prayer that outlines our historic Baptist convictions against war and pursuing peace. You can read his letter here.

I also urge us to remember the people of Myanmar who have continued to suffer under the military regime, and to support our churches here in Wisconsin with our prayers and solidarity. Last month, ABCUSA proclaimed February 6th as a day of prayer and action for the people of Burma. You can read more here.

I look forward to meeting you all throughout the year! Here is a short welcome video from our family to you.

Blessings,
Rev. Mindi Welton-Mitchell
Executive Minister
American Baptist Churches of Wisconsin
